THE HANGING GARDENS OF CLAUDIA LIMA
Oil painting, tapestry, sculpture of jute and resins are the materials used to build a path that the artist finds "wonderful" and where art is experienced as a "passion."
After a journey of much "free" experimentation without "insecurity" and very "naturally", the most recent works are presented in the exhibition with the name of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: The "Hanging Gardens" of Babylon.
To please and console Amitis, his favorite wife, King Nabucodonosor, in the sixth century BC, built the "Hanging Gardens" whose gardens were watered through an ingenious system of irrigation that pumped water from the river Euphrates. Today, the "Hanging Gardens" of Claudia Lima offer us a route between sculpture, paintings and tapestries, giving us with a suggestion of suspension, ethereal, manifesting the search of light.
"This exhibition has a bit of everything. The tapestry appeared in my way, I didn´t look for it. It was through the tapestry that I developed this work in three-dimensions. I think it's almost a path. After that there is the phase that we could name, the child museum, which is the phase with more color, because I an enchanted by colors, its vibrancy. It is the light I´m looking for. In these works what I'm looking for is the light. Then we have the passage towards the three-dimensional. With the "Hanging Gardens" we are moving towards something that is not so physical; it’s more of an ethereal thing. "
"Hanging Gardens", is an exhibition that arises in Claudia Lima´s universe as a reflection of her need to "look up, a little", a path built in the pursuit of "strength" and "hope", for a way out "of this imbalance". For the artist, this is the moment that "we have to fly, we do not have to get stressed. We have to get a little suspended. To float a bit, is really the proposal."
